EHRC Launch Enquiry

The Equality and Human Rights Commission have launched an inquiry on how human rights work in Britain, which represents the starting point for their remit on human rights. Their goals for this work are to:

promote understanding of the importance of human rights

encourage good practice in relation to human rights

promote awareness, understanding and protection of human rights

encourage public authorities to comply with the Human Rights Act (section 9 of the Equality Act)

EHRC Hopefully by the end of the inquiry they will have:

a reliable set of findings about the state of human rights in Britain, and

recommendations to move the human rights agenda forward.
